MARCH (Hanoi): Barratt-Due masterclasses and audition at VNAM

Stephan Barratt-Due (violin), Soon-Mi Chung (viola) and Øyestin Birkeland (cello) are working with the students at the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) with Bui Cong Duy and students Nguyen Thien Minh and Emilie Gudim.

The project also includes the following activities:

  • Audition for young string students to participate at Sommersymfonien in Valdres
  • Master Classes with Stephan Barratt Due
  • Master Classes with Soon-Mi Chung
  • Master Classes with Øystein Birkeland

JAN-FEB (Oslo): Young string talent in Oslo

Do Phuong Nhi is staying in Oslo for training at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.

Nhi is studying at Vietnam National Academy of Music, and has been in Oslo before as part of the Transposition-program in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The project includes the following activities:

  • Master Classes with Stephan Barratt-Due, Barratt Due Institute of Music
  • Master Classes with Alf Richard Kraggerud
  • Recital at Barratt Due (entrance exam for admittance to the Yong Talents program, autumn 2014)
  • Nhi performed with a string quartet from Barratt Due at a professional chamber musicconcert in Den Gamle Logen.
  • Participation in Barratt Dues Symphony Orchestra Concert 01.02 at Oslo Konserthus.
  • Meetings with staff and administration at Lillestrøm Upper Secondary School, preparing for Nhi’s year as exchange student at the “Young Talents program” at the Barratt Due Institute of Music

JANUARY (Norway): Recording with NOSO

Nam Thang works with Nordnorsk Opera og Symfoniorkester (NOSO) and Bodø Sinfonietta and takes part in their recording of works by the contemporary Norwegian composer Lene Grenager.

JAN-JUNE (Oslo): Final semester at the Barratt Due for Minh

Nguyen Thien Minh (violin) has embarked on his second semester of the last year as a bachelor student at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.

In addition to his studies, lessons and lectures, this project includes the following activities:

  • Student recital by Minh on 16.01
  • Participation in Barratt Dues Symphony Orchestra Concert 01.02 at Oslo Konserthus.
  • Participating in the 19.03 concert in Hanoi
  • Graduating Recital in June

MARCH (Hanoi): Arts Management Symposium

A 2-year program in capacity building for arts managers and directors in Vietnam, initiated by Transposition, and run in cooperation with the DeVos Institute of Management, had its first seminar 18 March 2014.

The first seminar is covering the following themes:

  • Artistic Planning
  • Introduction to Fundraising
  • Introduction to Strategic Planning

The program is unique in that the process of capacity building continues in between the seminars. Each organization will receive their individual mentor that they work with via email/phone/web, preparing
for the next step in the process.

MARCH (Hanoi): Friendship Concert with royal guests of honour

During their official visit to Vietnam, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit will attend a friendship concert in Hanoi for invited guests Wednesday 19 March in the Hanoi Opera House.

The audience will experience the following programme:

Welcome speech by the Norwegian Ambassador Ståle Torstein Risa

J.S.Bach: Concerto for two violins and strings

Traditional: Lý hoài nam (arr. for orchestra by Ngô Hoàng Quân)

W.A Mozart: Exsultate Jubilate

Edvard Grieg: Holberg Suite

Soloists will be violinists Ludvig Gudim and Do Phuong Nhi and soprano Dao Thi To Loan.

FEBRUARY (Hanoi): Planning lessons for teachers

At the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM), the final details of the new education programme for instrumental and vocal teachers is now being set.

Six teachers at the academy are working with Grete Helle Rasmussen from the Barratt Due Insitute of Music on the contents of 28 lessons for all senior year bachelor students at the Academy. The lessons are thoroughly described in English and Vietnamese in a new 100 page document.

JANUARY (Norway): Concert tour with TrondheimSolistene

Bui Cong Duy and Nam Thang participates in the Trondheim Soloists traditional New Year Tour.

Soloists: Ksenija Sidorova (accordeon), Bui Cong Duy and Anders Larsen, violin.

Rehearsals and concerts in Steinkjer, Hitra, Surnadal and Levanger.
