Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival has developed a project to run for a period of three years from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2009 called Transposition, a large-scale collaboration between leading music institutions in Norway and Vietnam.
The project will include the following institutions in Vietnam
Hanoi Conservatory of Music - www.nhacvienhanoi.vn
Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Hanoi - www.vnso.org.vn
Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music - www.hcmcons.edu.vn
Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera - www.hbso.org.vn
Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival - www.ultima.no
MIC - Music Information Centre Norway - www.mic.no
BIT20 Ensemble, Bergen - www.bit20ensemble.no/
Norwegian Society of Composers - www.komponist.no/
Barratt Due Institute of Music - www.barrattdue.no/
Bodø Sinfonietta - www.bodo-sinfonietta.no/
National Centre for Arts and Culture Education in Bodø - www.kunstkultursenteret.no/
Forsvarets Musikk - www.forsvaretsmusikk.no
All of the above institutions have received a presentation of the project and have agreed to participate.
Through Transposition the collaborating parties on the project will be closely linked with the Norwegian Embassy in Hanoi. Norwegian trade and industry is currently building relations in Vietnam; one area of high priority for us will be to create a dialogue between relevant businesses and concert activities. In December 2006 formal links were established with the Norwegian Consul in Hochiminh City; this contact will be developed with a view to involving trade and industry more actively in the project.
Ultima on its part will establish connections with Innovasjon Norge (Innovation Norway) and inform the institution of the opportunities for profiling Norwegian trade and industry offered by Transposition through a Vietnamese-Norwegian cultural collaboration in both countries.
